Portfolio management is a method of managing technology purchases like an investment portfolio, providing managers with a better view of all investments across a company and allowing executives to see the big picture. It is estimated that by the end of 2003, 50% of Fortune 2000 companies will be using basic forms of IT portfolio management and the percentage is expected to increase to 70% in 2005 and 85% by 2007 along with the level of usage, according to METAGroup, a leading technology research company. IT portfolio management allows companies to achieve far greater accuracy on their predictions for IT investments.
Using portfolio management is rapidly becoming the method of choice by companies to gain control over technology purchases. Blue chip companies like J.P. Morgan Chase, Johnson Johnson, and Metropolitan Life Insurance as well as government-funded entities like the Naval Sea Systems Command are leading the way. Provides a non-technical approach for IT and business executives to implement an effective IT portfolio management system. Includes real world case studies for practical approaches and to illustrate processes or findings. Authors will leverage Lockheed Martin and METAGroup (an IT market research leader) to sponsor and support marketing efforts and to penetrate government vertical market, including a META group email blast to over 120,000 members in META’s database.
