The U.S. Department of Labor predicts that in the first decade of this century, 85% of new workers will be women, minorities, and immigrants. (SHRMs Talking to Diversity Experts) As the demand for skilled employees increases and demographics shift, competition for talented people of color increases, making retention a key issue for organizations of all kinds. A Harvard Business Review article entitled Race Matters reported Diversity has become a top priority in corporate America. Despite the best intentions, though, many organizations have failed to achieve racial balance within their executive teams. Some have revolving doors for talented minorities, recruiting the best and brightest only to see them leave, frustrated and even angered by the barriers they encounter.
A UNIQUE TAKE ON DIVERSITY MANAGEMENT While much has been written about diversity and its importance, this is the first book to focus exclusively on retaining people of color. DIVERSITY IS A TOP-OF-MIND ISSUE Spurred by the recent Supreme Court ruling as well as the eminent talent shortage that is predicted, diversity is an issue that is on the minds of human resource professionals in organizations all across the country. A “PASS-IT-ALONG” BOOK With its readable storyline and uncomplicated model for change, this book is ideally suited to be passed along to managers and leaders in organizations who are responsible for hiring and retaining minority talent…resulting in multiple copy sales.
