PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT BY FOCUSING ON ROOT CAUSES Almost every executive in business today is faced with the challenge of improving performance. Whether the need is for incremental improvements or wholesale or-ganizational change. But, those who have leapt into action have often been disap-pointed. Their hard-won changes – customer service, quality, cycle time, cost con-tainment, morale, or safety – often have a short life. The reason: They haven’t ze-roed in on the root causes of the issue or the factors necessary for successful, per-manent resolution. Brache presents a new “Enterprise Model,” one that takes into account all of the variables – internal and external, strategic and operational, structural and human – that influence performance. The reader gets a 360-degree picture of organizational dynamics and how they can be harnessed to effect permanent improvements in performance.
