Hedge funds over the last four years have come to be the hottest tool Wall Street has for investors. Investors regardless of the size or shape of their portfolios are flocking to these alternative investment vehicles in hopes of protecting and increasing their wealth. Today hedge funds are almost as common as mutual funds and they continue to be hot. With the ever-growing interest in hedge funds, the regulators have begun to look long and hard at these products in order to insure that investors are not hurt or taken advantage of by hedge fund managers and promoters. In the four years since the First Edition was published there have been some significant changes to the rules and regulation surrounding the creation of, and investment in, hedge funds which Strachman will discuss in this Second Edition.
