Thomsons work is the first analytical dissection of what it takes to be part of the distinctive group of Blueprint companies (companies that have IPO’d since 1980 and grown to $1B in revenue). Growth is not a new topic. Millions of hours and dollars have been invested by companies to find its drivers and patterns. Thomson’s approach is different: find fact-based behaviors and actions with superior financial performance and apply them to those on the front line. These principles outline what these Blueprint companies have done to create above average performance. Missing even one of these principles resulted in companies falling off trajectory.

This book offers readers a map to the success pattern of the highest growth companies around. Out of the companies Thomson surveyed, the “Blueprint” companies he highlights account for a highly disproportionate impact; 12% of the companies are responsible for over half of the employment and value created. These are remarkable results, which are even more remarkable when you consider the strong effect of these companies on our lives. Blueprint to a Billion is Dave Thomsons fact-based, actionable answer to finding the growth pattern of these Blueprint companies and using it to work to the reader’s advantage.
INNOVATIVE APPROACH TO QUANTIFYING GROWTH PATTERNS. Thomson fills a hole in new thinking about learning from companies and applying their success for managers, entrepreneurs, and investors by laying out fact-based findings so that they are actionable. BASED ON YEARS OF RESEARCH. Thomson has identified the Pd since 1980 and have achieved $1B in revenue. He offers readers a plan on realizing growth based on the research, success, and excellence of tracking the success of these “Blueprint” companies. PROMOTIONAL OPPORTUNITIES/ALLIANCES. Sponsors include Morgan Stanley, MIT, McKinsey s most successful companies. INTERACTIVE WEBSITE. The book will have links in each chapter for readers to interact with a companion website where theyll find case studies, interviews, financial data, and a current list of potential Blueprint companies to track.
