Consulting is a state of mind, an intention in speech, which if properly translated into interventions can be very helpful for others. Yet consultants are continually under pressure, and their status must be earned at every step of the process. With this in mind, Fearless Consulting raises questions and possibilities. Examining consulting from as many relevant perspectives as possible using four recurring approaches – a reflection, an example, a case study and a consultant at work – Erik de Haan asks readers to think about what it means to be a consultant and what dilemmas it can entail, then encourages them to reach their own views about the profession and choose their own approach.

Consulting continues to be a popular topic. This study of the nature of the profession was originally written in Dutch, and inspired in part by Peter Blocks Flawless Consulting. Ashridge Business School commissioned an English translation from the author, and he is seeking a Foreword by Peter Block for this edition.
Fearless Consulting is an unusually insightful and literate book on consulting. Erik de Haan uses experiential learning theory and learning styles to develop a questionnaire that allows consultants to identify their preferred consulting role and intervention approach. Every consultant can benefit from reading this work.” DAVID KOLB “Provides a unique perspective on consulting. He’s excellent at exploring the hidden depths and ambiguities consultants would often like to ignore, and brings a wealth of learning to bear on familiar dilemmas.” FIONA CZERNIAWSKA A philosophical yet practical book – challenges readers to consider what they do and improve it Full backing and promotional support from Ashridge Consulting, part of Ashridge Business School, UK Excellent reviews and recommendations for the original Dutch edition With a proposed Foreword by Peter Block
