This book considers the psychology of the people who are involved in the stock market, to give insights into why the markets behave in the way they do. Cohen argues that it is far from rational and logical, but based on deep-seated emotions like fear, greed, panic and the herd instinct. New, topical material for this paperback edition (hardback published by Metro) includes the yo-yo values of internet shares; people who’ve been so mad at their stockbrokers they killed them and the new flotation of the London Stock Exchange.

” David Cohen’s book has hit upon a rich seam, which is far more edifying than any beginner’s guide to investing … the author certainly does not pretend to be a stock market expert, but his objective eye from one profession looking at another gives the reader a far better insight of the markets than many an expert I have read” The Independent “Cohen attempts to address what makes the market tick in his thoroughly engaging work … a fascinating book” Irish Times
A fun, topical read, written in a jargon-free style. * Contains fascinating case histories on companies and individuals. * Contains a psychological quiz to test attitude towards risk. * Includes a useful glossary of psychological and investment terms.
