About the Author
Joe Moglia, CEO of Ameritrade since March 2001, has a long career in the investment business. He joined Ameritrade from Merrill Lynch, where he served as senior vice president and head of the Investment Performance and Product Group for Merrill’s Private Client division. Prior to entering the financial services industry, Moglia was the defensive coordinator for Dartmouth College’s football team and authored a book on football. He holds a master’s degree in economics from the University of Delaware and a bachelor’s in economics from Fordham University. Ameritrade is only one of only two purely online discount brokers (E*Trade is the Other). Ameritrade, through some key acquisitions and mergers (NDB, Datek) now handles nearly twice as many trades per day–7 million–as Schwab.
