Drawn from a joint research program between the Department of Defense, Naval Air Systems Command and the aerospace industry, the authors have determined how to combine popular approaches to lean production into a seamless framework. The results of the study and the authors’ framework have been acknowledged by industry and endorsed by the Aircraft Industries Association (AIA). This book demonstrates how to manage and apply manufacturing approaches across the organization in a unified way. Approaches covered include: MRP, JIT, kanban, cellular manufacturing and statistical process control. The ideas and techniques covered in this book can be applied to all types of manufacturing firms.
