About the Book and Topic:
Breakaway offers nothing less than a revolutionary new model of performance improvement and fast change. Based on hundreds of business interviews, including more than a third of the Fortune 50 companies, this straightforward, powerful guide offers tools to transform your organization by increasing the speed at which employees learn and then turn that knowledge into action.
Breakaway provides a practical approach for fast change. Our current business learning systems are relics from the early industrial era of last century, incapable of the speed needed today. Breakaway offers a new approach to organizational learning to dramatically speed up the learning process and save your business great time and money. It restores business learning to its highest and most valuable purpose: to hasten the moment when each worker can convert knowledge into action to provide value to the customer. Breakaway is centered around a three step approach: 1. Establish the Proficiency Threshold (the point at which all levels of the organization–and thus the organization itself–is fulfilling its promise to the customer) 2. Accelerate the Accumulation of Experience (this is the application of knowledge through which the employee gains experience and becomes more proficient in their job) 3. Measure the Cycle Time to Proficiency Threshold (how long does it take for employees and the organization to learn and be proficient at their jobs) By accelerating the rate at which workers accumulate experience, your business can significantly reduce its cycle time to proficiency (the state at which your business is delivering what it promised to the customer at individual and organizational levels) and increase its bottom-line results.
