Boardroom Excellence is a small, hands-on handbook for board members who want and need both breadth and depth of knowledge on how to do an effective job on any board, big or small. Brountas, an attorney with over 40 years experience professionally and personally on corporate, private, and nonprofit boards, tackles the necessary qualities and components of effective boards today – post the landmark Sarbanes-Oxley corporate reform law passed by congress in 2002. The book covers both staple topics (including the roles of directors, board committees, and evaluation of board performance) and newer issues such as shareholder activism, the effects of Sarbanes-Oxley on private corporations, and many others.
