About the Book and Topic:
With the stock market currently so uncertain, investors who have primarily purchased equity securities in the past have been looking for more secure investment alternatives; namely, fixed income securities. This book will de-mystify the fixed income market which can be a daunting and seem overly complex to those who are unfamiliar with it. Investing in Fixed Income Securities will be reader-friendly and not overly mathmatical, as most bond books are. This book will serve as a resource and reference guide to help sophisticated investors make educated investment decisions.
Strumeyer brings nearly 20 years of experience in the fixed income market as he provides a comprehensive overview of this investment arena. He will identify the different types of fixed income securities, their characteristics, the strategies necessary to manage a diversified portfolio, non-U.S. securities, bond pricing concepts, yield curves and other economic factors will be explored so readers can make informed investment decisions. Investing in Fixed Income Securities strives to be a less complex alternative to other titles of this type that are on the bookshelf. It is intended to be a pragmatic approach, less mathematically oriented, targeting sophisticated individual investors and professional money managers.
AUTHOR EXPERTISE: Strumeyer, with his nearly 20 years in the bond field, is well regarded and often quoted by the media–both print and broadcast. His previous consumer title on the topic has sold well. INSTITUTIONAL SUPPORT: Strumeyer expects Bank of New York to support the book with email and other opportunities. TIMELY TOPIC: Because of the uncertainty in the stock market, more investors are turning to bonds to stabilize their portfolio. However, with bonds tied to interest rates, strategies on what type, what term and tax implications must be understood.
