About the Book and Topic:
A hands-on workbook designed to help fund raisers establish the last major component of a comprehensive development office: an endowment program.
Endowment fund raising is the last major step in the development of a comprehensive fund raising program. While universities, colleges, and hospitals were the first institutions to move toward endowment building, organizations throughout the nonprofit sector are beginning to realize the tremendous advantages effective endowment programs can offer. This workbook represents the first volume devoted exclusively to the increasingly rewarding area of endowment. This workbook provides a blueprint for thousands of nonprofits who have little or no experience with endowment programs. It offers readers a road map through all the critical phases of long-term planning: start-up, goal-setting, researching donors, constructing a leadership team, campaign planning and management, and donor recognition and stewardship. In addition to walking readers through the process of instituting an effective program, Schumacher also addresses the critical issues of ethics in endowment fund raising, provides tips on asking for the endowment gift, and illuminates the relationship between endowment fund raising and its sister strategy, planned giving.
A hands-on workbook complete with a variety of checklists, sample forms, and how-to worksheets. * Information about goal-setting, researching prospective donors, constructing a leadership team, campaign planning and stewardship. * Guidance of how endowment differs from other elements of your fund raising program.
